Ingredients
- Potatoes:
- 5 potatoes, diced
- Ground Beef Mixture:
- 450 grams of ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Egg Mixture:
- 5 eggs
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- Additional Ingredients:
- Olive oil
- Grated mozzarella cheese (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Potatoes
- Dice the Potatoes:
- Start by cutting 5 potatoes into slices, then into small dice.
- Fry the Potatoes:
- In a large pan, add a generous amount of olive oil. Heat over medium heat and add the diced potatoes. Fry for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until they are golden and tender. Remove the potatoes from the pan and place them in a bowl to cool.
Step 2: Prepare the Ground Beef Mixture
- Dice the Onion:
- Cut an onion in half, then into slices, and finally into dice.
- Mince the Garlic:
- Crush 3 garlic cloves with a knife, then mince them into small pieces.
- Sauté the Onion and Garlic:
- In the same pan, add a little more olive oil if needed. Add the minced garlic and diced onion. Stir and let them fry until the onion is translucent and fragrant.
- Cook the Ground Beef:
- Add 450 grams of ground beef to the pan. Season with salt to taste, black pepper to taste, 1/2 teaspoon of dried parsley, and 1/2 teaspoon of paprika. Cook the beef, breaking it up with a spatula, until it is browned and fully cooked. Once done, remove the pan from heat and transfer the ground beef to a bowl.
Step 3: Prepare the Egg Mixture
- Whisk the Eggs:
- In a separate bowl, add 5 eggs. Season with salt and black pepper to taste, then whisk until well combined.
- Combine with Potatoes:
- Pour the beaten eggs into the bowl with the cooled potatoes. Mix everything together very well to ensure the potatoes are evenly coated with the egg mixture.
Step 4: Assemble and Cook the Skillet
- Layer the Mixture:
- In the same pan (cleaned if necessary), add a drizzle of olive oil and spread it evenly with a brush. Pour in half of the potato mixture and spread it out evenly. Then, add the cooked ground beef on top, spreading it out to cover the potatoes. Optionally, you can sprinkle grated mozzarella cheese over the beef for extra flavor.
- Top with Remaining Potatoes:
- Add the remaining potato mixture on top of the beef, spreading it evenly.
- Cook the Skillet:
- Cover the pan and cook over medium heat for about 7 minutes, allowing the bottom to set and turn golden brown.
- Flip and Cook:
- Carefully place a large plate over the pan and flip the skillet onto the plate. Slide the uncooked side of the skillet back into the pan and cook for another 7 minutes, or until the potatoes are fully cooked and the mixture is set.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
- Slice and Serve:
- Once fully cooked, remove the skillet from the heat. Let it cool slightly before slicing into wedges.
- Enjoy:
- Serve warm, and enjoy this hearty, delicious meal with your family.
